As an intern, I received plenty of training from my supervisors on different roles and responsibilities of the department I worked for. I learned skills in employer branding, recruitment, event organizing, planning, and the likes.

Our training and development programs include designing and planning network systems. We also participate in site visits to various substations to familiarize ourselves with the equipment used for electricity distribution. Before starting the OJT, what I really struggle is about communicating with other people immediately. When I started my OJT, it is really a must to make 'pakikisama' and socializing with your colleagues so as I go on with my internship, I think this is the skill that I observe to really improve.

Meralco provides valuable informal, on-the-job training. This includes hands-on experience, mentorship from more experienced colleagues, and opportunities to work on real-world projects. The informal training environment is supportive and encourages learning through practical application, which is instrumental in developing a deeper understanding of daily tasks and responsibilities. During my time at Meralco, I gained several valuable skills through both formal and informal training. I improved my customer service abilities by effectively handling inquiries and resolving issues, while also acquiring technical knowledge related to the utility sector

As an intern in the ICT field, being able to work without spoonfeeding is great. Yet the supervisors were still there whenever I am stucked on something, and occassionally giving ideas and technologies I am not aware of to improve.
Intern, Pasig - 09 Sep 2024
Can be more frequent and a priority to focus on. Not need to multitask work with training. Training from colleagues are top notch, everyone is open to mentor.

In my role in Learning and Development, I was exposed to various training programs. Most of these programs have been designed for engineers within the company and covered topics such as data science, delivering effective presentations, electrical safety, and more. Additionally, there are other programs like Chemical Spill and Response Management, which educates employees from different departments on how to handle emergencies, and Winning Hearts and Minds, which teaches us how to effectively work with and build relationships with those around us. Working at MERALCO has given me the opportunity to acquire skills outside of my field of study (Psychology), and this exposure to diverse information has allowed me to develop new skills, such as data science management, which may be valuable in the future.
