  • Energy & Utilities

Meralco is the largest private sector electric distribution utility company in the Philippines covering 36 cities and 75 municipalities. Its franchise area of over 9,685 km2 is just 3% of the total land area of the Philippines, but accounts for 55% of the country’s electricity output. Meralco is a partner in nation building today and in the future. It is committed to ensure a reliable and sustainable energy supply, and to take affirmative action to support the country's growth.

But Meralco is more than just a power distribution company.

It is home to a dynamic and driven talent community who shares the same passion towards building a brilliant future, and embodies our core values: excellence, customer centricity, sustainability, integrity, innovation, malasakit, and bayanihan.

Meralco fully embracing sustainability as a way of life means the organization needs people who will run the organization with a sustainability mindset to ensure achievement of its sustainability objectives.  With “People” as one of the 4 pillars in building a sustainable organization, attracting and hiring talents of like-mindset has become a primordial hiring strategy.

In this aspect, Talent Resourcing has become a strategic arm of Human Resources in attracting and hiring such talents.  As the first point of contact of applicants and future Meralco employees, it is important that the recruitment process is ethical, fair, and inclusive. That is, the process provides equal opportunity to all candidates regardless of gender, socio-economic status, religion, age and ethnicity leading to a positive candidate experience and a strong employer brand for continuously attracting the right talents for the fast-changing competency needs of the organization.

Diversity and inclusion in hiring is a conscious decision and when this is implemented, the company welcomes untapped talent into the company’s culture which may result to a bigger and better talent pool that encourages different perspectives and hopefully towards a more sustainable and profitable business.

Recruitment Process

The pandemic influenced us to look into our recruitment process, improve it, and make it more safe and efficient for our talent community. Interested applicants can check our list of career opportunities from our Meralco Careers Website, and social media pages. They can apply by accomplishing the online application form that can be found in the Meralco Careers Website.

Meralco Talent Resourcing team will screen applications, and shortlisted candidates will receive an invitation for initial interview and assessment via email or SMS. As a TIP, applicants should regularly update their contact details. The assessment is conducted online, as well as interviews (of which, levels may vary depending on the role you are applying for). Successful candidates who passed the interview will be notified and shall be invited to complete the pre-employment requirements. We believe that feedback is important, so even those who did not qualify will be informed on their application status. Their profiles will also be kept in the talent data bank for future roles that match their interests and qualifications.

Remuneration & Career Growth

Meralco offers a competitive rewards program for its employees, which is anchored on a performance-driven culture. Aside from monetary benefits, we provide employees a safe space where they can grow and nurture their potentials, and an environment where they can have holistic development.

  • Great mentors/supervisors and value-adding projects.
  • Working at Meralco gave me the opportunity to broaden my horizons...learning about topics outside my field of study.
  • Even if I was an intern, they definitely treat me as a colleague and guide me with my workloads.
  • The culture within the learning and development department is one where everyone is familiar and close to one another.
  • There are some days where I don't have anything to do.
  • As an intern, the pay was a bit low considering the commute expenses.
  • Some tasks at the business center can be routine or repetitive.
  • The worst thing working at Meralco is the location... Every day going there was a struggle because of traffic.
  • Lack of more regular employment opportunities.
