Job Satisfaction at Manila Electric Company (Meralco)

Good.

In my role as an intern at Meralco, my primary responsibilities include compiling and updating data related to various equipment used within the company. This involves converting databases into KML files for use in Google Earth, which helps in visualizing and managing our equipment locations. On a day-to-day basis, I work on tasks such as creating heatmaps for access point design, updating and managing databases of different equipment, and assisting in various administrative and technical tasks as needed. I am also involved in data analysis and visualization, which supports the team in making informed decisions. Additionally, I participate in site visits to observe how the network is distributed to homes and other infrastructure. These visits provide me with hands-on learning opportunities and a deeper understanding of how network distribution operates in real-world scenarios. My role allows me to apply my technical skills in real-world scenarios and contribute to meaningful projects that support Meralco’s operations. It also provides me with valuable experience in data management, network planning, and field observations, which enhances my professional growth and prepares me for future career opportunities.

Helping and assisting

My work mostly revolve around database as it is used for monitoring the conditions of the fiber optics but I also did some work like plotting on google earth and creating of connectors.

I am satisfied with my work at Meralco, specifically at the Masinag Business Center. My responsibilities included the processing of project-covered applications and engineering field surveys. Although I commit mistakes, there are a lot of people who guide my work to achieve better performance. Overall, I found the role rewarding and felt that my contributions were valued, which enhanced my satisfaction with the work.

Daily audit and execution of networks operation.

As an intern, we are being taught by the engineers about their work roles, about the company, etc. Most of the time we are doing field work such as surveying the sites, thermal scanning, etc. And I find these things very exciting because we get to learn a lot of new things.

•Applied ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) and Kirkpatrick's learning model to manage end-to-end learning and training needs across all functions within Meralco. •Utilized the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) via SAP to track and manage training compliance for Meralco employees. •Conducted standardized post-training exams to evaluate the competency of employees following training sessions. •Supported the logistics and preparatory work for Meralco's values cascade program, specifically in the Pasig, Paranaque, and Plaridel sectors.

As an intern, my team leader for the week assigned me various tasks related to the team I'm currently working with.

I was able to plan and manage my own project, exposing me to the practical applications of project management and process improvement.

Script automation and training course outline drafting.

End-to-end recruitment

- Digitalization of files from paper to database (PROJECT PAPER BAN) - Updated list of overdue and unpaid bills, reminders for payments to RED, LGU, and FSL accounts. - Validation, encoding, and monitoring of active disconnected accounts that have outstanding invoices and are at risk of contract termination.

I was an all-rounder assistant in the department, so my day-to-day responsibilities varied. I helped create TNA (Training Needs Analysis) reports for meetings, designed or prepared course materials for various programs, conducted SLE and icebreakers, and assisted in evaluation administration.

I'm very satisfied, since day because my mentors kept on teaching me how to do the works, mostly in field works.

Researching and benchmarking to make sure all organizations are being efficient.

Observation of field operations by Construction 2 and Maintenance, and study of design plans for all operations. It was interesting, and you can feel the integrity of it all.
